How To Comment Anonymously

VIDIZMO allows users to comment anonymously, hiding their registered identity. Anonymous users can also add comments. Anonymous comments can be optional or enforced based on configured settings.

Prerequisites

Ensure you belong to a group with Anonymous Comment Settings feature enabled, or have a CAL that grants this permission.

Enable Anonymous Comments for Registered Users

  1. Select the navigation menu.
  2. Expand Admin.
  3. Select Portal Settings.
  4. Expand Library.
  5. Select Comments.
  6. Enable Allow Comments to allow users to comment.
  7. Enable Allow Comment Moderation if you want comments to be moderated.
  8. Enable Allow Anonymous Comments to enable anonymous commenting.
  9. Enable Enforce Anonymous Comments to make all comments anonymous (users cannot choose to show their identity).
  10. Enable Allow Moderator+ To Identify Users to expose commenter identity only to Moderators and above. Leave unchecked to hide identity completely.
  11. Select Update.

Configure Default Anonymous Comment Settings

  1. In Portal Settings, expand Library.
  2. Select Default Publish Settings.
  3. Select the media type to edit default settings.
  4. Configure the anonymous comment options as needed.

These default settings apply to new media uploads.

Configure Anonymous Comments for Specific Media

  1. Open the media in Media Manager or select Settings from the overflow menu.
  2. Select the Publish tab.
  3. Enable Allow Comments.
  4. Configure the anonymous comment options:
    • Allow Comment Moderation - Moderate comments before publishing
    • Allow Anonymous Comments - Let users comment anonymously
    • Enforce Anonymous Comments - Force all comments to be anonymous
  5. Select Update.

Enable Anonymous Users to Comment

To allow non-registered (anonymous) users to add comments:

  1. In Portal Settings, expand Privacy.
  2. Select Anonymous User Policy.
  3. In the Comments section, enable:
    • Allow Users To View Comments
    • Allow Users To Add And Manage Their Own Comments
  4. Select Update.

Then configure the specific media:

  1. Open the media settings from the overflow menu.
  2. Select the Publish tab and enable Allow Comments.
  3. Select the Access tab.
  4. In Who can access it?, select Anonymous Viewers.
  5. Select Update.

Add Anonymous Comment

  1. Navigate to the media you want to comment on.
  2. Select the Comment as Anonymous checkbox beneath the comment box.
  3. Enter your comment.
  4. Select Post.

NOTE: If Enforce Anonymous Comments is enabled, the checkbox is not visible as all comments are automatically anonymous.
